Delivering Broadcast Video to Social Media – What are the key architectural and technical issues?
May 13 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PMFree
Large scale growth in content consumption is reliant on the expansion and development of Social Media platforms.
This poses unique challenges for those crafting production and delivery workflows which differ significantly from the needs of legacy linear Direct To Home (DTH) workflows.
As well as handling discovery and playback of broadcast content, delivering User Generated Content (UGC) at scale is a major issue if platform viewership is to continue to grow as expected.
Low latency and Quality of Service (QoS) are widely recognized as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) but how they relate to the selection of encoding, packaging and streaming architectures isn’t immediately obvious to those responsible for the commissioning and supporting the video and underlying compute / storage infrastructure.
Additionally, the wide array of players, browsers and end user devices necessitates workflow flexibility way beyond that catered for within the delivery model associated with CAPEX intensive, closed DTH delivery architectures.
